## Examination Format

How will students be tested for O Level E Math papers?

Students have to complete Paper and Paper 2. For Paper 1, there are 25 short answer questions that must be attempted in 2 hours. Paper 1 holds 50% of the total grade, which also means 80 marks. Paper 2 consists of 10 to 11 questions that must be done within 2 hours 30 minutes. Paper 2 holds 50% of the overall grade, which is 100 marks.

##### Numbers & Algebra

Students are introduced to the following chapters:

- Numbers and their operations
- Ratio and proportion
- Percentage
- Rate and speed
- Algebraic expressions and formulae
- Functions and graphs
- Equations and inequalities
- Set language and notation
- Matrices
- Problems in real-world contexts

##### Geometry & Measurement

Students are taught the following areas:

- Angles, triangles and polygons
- Congruence and similarity
- Properties of circles
- Pythagoras’ theorem and trigonometry
- Mensuration
- Coordinate geometry
- Vectors in two dimensions
- Problems in real-world contexts

##### Statistics & Probability

Students will learn the following topics:

- Data analysis
- Probability

In view of the three themes covered at the E Math syllabus, students must pay attention to other specific instructions stated, such as the fact that they are permitted to use the calculator for Paper 1 and Paper 2. ## E Maths Examinations Trends

How secondary Math tutors view the recent examination trends?

#### Solve real world problems with Mathematics

The trend in E math examinations have revealed that examiners are looking beyond student’s ability to merely apply whatever they have learnt in the paper. They are testing students on how mathematical concepts can be used to solve real world problems and how students are able to overcome it using mathematics.
